Ava takes away the guesswork in these conversations. It solved an emergency problem that may take a few days to solve while we waited for a translator to come.

About Maureen

My name is Maureen Wilson. I'm an insurance broker, and most of my clients are Medicare beneficiaries because of that I have a lot of clients who are either hard-of-hearing or Deaf.

How has Ava helped your life?

When we have appointments usually, we bring an Interpreter but that can take two weeks or longer to schedule that appointment. So when my clients have an immediate need I was introduced to Ava. Ava really helps me so I can go visit with my clients and they can understand what I am saying and a lot of the clients are able to hear and speak well enough to respond to me. Ava takes away some of the guesswork in these conversations. Not everything I say is always clear to someone who's Deaf, but ava helps to translate what I'm saying and clear that up.

I met with Angela today, and she was able to understand everything I needed to tell her by using Ava. We also had Angela's husband nearby just in case neither one of us could translate what we needed to say, but Ava did most of the work today.

I'm really happy to have this product. I've only had it for about two months and in those 60 days, I've used it at least 12 different times to speak with people who previously I would have had to take a pen and a piece of paper and write everything down now I just talk, and it makes the whole process a lot easier.

A couple of weeks ago I was at a Walmart pharmacy and there is a customer who was trying to tell the pharmacist that she needed a prescription filled but she couldn't communicate with the pharmacist, since they didn't speak sign language. I pulled out my iPad and turned on Ava and was able to communicate well enough with the lady who couldn't hear and get the information from her that she needed to tell the pharmacist. I use Ava to make sure that what I thought I was reading from the lady who was deaf so while I'm trying to read her sign language. I used Ava to make sure that I was getting everything right so she was able to read what I was telling the pharmacist and confirmed that I was saying the right thing so it kind of solved an emergency problem that may have taken a few days to solve while we waited for a translator to come to Walmart.

My people using it at work people like me using it to complete their work friends using it so that they can have their deaf and hearing friends together in a room maybe playing cards and it's just easier for everybody we don't have to worry as much about reading lips making sure that we're always looking at our Deaf friends so that they can see our lips, I don't know I think it's great; it's great for work, It's great for home; it's great for fun.
