How to Sign “Yogurt” in Sign Language

Yogurt is incredibly versatile and is used in various cuisines worldwide. From savory dishes like Indian raita and Middle Eastern tzatziki to sweet treats like smoothies and parfaits, yogurt adds a creamy texture and tangy flavor to a wide range of recipes.

Signing “Yogurt”

  1. Hand shape: Start with your dominant hand in a “Y” handshape. Form your non-dominant hand into a “close-5” handshape, palm up.
  2. Hand location: Bring your hands in front of your body at about chest level.
  3. Movement: Bring your dominant hand towards your non-dominant hand, as if using the spoon to shovel yogurt out of the bowl.
  4. Facial expression: Keep a neutral facial expression.
